Man U defeats Chelsea to capture Champions League - video of the shootout

Published by El Gigante under Uncategorized

I’m not a huge soccer fan but I decided to watch this game today. I enjoyed the entire first half before heading into the office. El Doctor was kind enough to keep me updated during the day via AIM.

He was so excited about the shootout that I decided to look for it as soon as I came home, and here it is:

End of the East Coast Bias?

Published by El Doctor under Uncategorized

This weekend gives us our first taste of interleague baseball around the country. For many teams this games against their, somewhat forced, “rivals”. ESPN often focuses on the Yankees and Mets Subway Series, typically because at least one of these teams are one of the best in the league. And, as my friends from non-NY, non-Boston areas often point out, there is a perceived media biased for these teams so these games are forced down the nations throat. New Yorkers might also be considered slightly ego-centric and under the impression the world revolves around the tri-state area. This year however finds both the Mets and Yanks generally being disappointments. As a Met fan I can tell you I really don’t care about this series against the Yanks. The Yankees just lost 2 of 3 to the DRays and are a general disappointment while the Mets just lost 3 of 4 to the Nats at home. The Mets need the wins and so do the Yanks but I, and many of my fellow Mets fans, don’t seem to give a shit about the opponent and there is a real lack of buzz. This got me to thinking, if the Subway Series is relatively dull this year, what interleague series this weekend are actually interesting? Continue Reading »

ARod is Excellent at Baseball, Not Much Else

Alex Rodriguez continues to demonstrate why he is not a cool person. At least he seems uncool. Perhaps in person he is a really nice dude. But if one of my friends passed out like a woman from 1830 you can rest assured I’d be busting his balls about it.

Normally I hate Jemele Hill columns on ESPN, because she is such an unabashed Kobe nutrider. But when she talks about race, she’s almost always spot on. Continue Reading »

Canadian Freestyle Reporting

I’m not sure what is awesomer: The fact that I just made up the word awesomer, the full flip/near decapitation, the dedication to complete the story, or the Canadian accent. You decide:

Brett Favre to Retire from Football

Well, once again we have info that Brett Favre is retiring from football. This is a sad day for John Madden, the #1 all time Brett Favre homer. Of course, this could be another fakey Favre retirement but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

Personally I am a fan of The Favre, ever since his cameo in “There’s Something About Mary” as “That corn fed white boy, Brett”, but on the flip side, bettors everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief that the man from the bay won’t be throwing that late pick to blow their parlay.

I found this clip of some off the cuff Farve moments, pretty entertaining:
