MLB Baseball Mega Post

Published by El Gigante under MLB

I can’t wait for baseball season to start, I’ve been scouring my favorite sports sites looking for any baseball news I can find. Rather than create a bunch of single posts, I’ve created one long post dealing with some of top stories from the last few days.

Spatial Aggregate Fielding Evaluation follow-up - Derek Jeter STILL sucks

Published by El Gigante under MLB, Yankees

I posted some thoughs about Spatial Aggregate Fielding Evaluation a few weeks back. This new study was basically showing that Derek Jeter was not a Gold Glove shortstop.

As expected, Derek Jeter and a large number of baseball purists came forward claiming that this study was flawed.

If Kyle Orton gets signed to a contract with similar terms as yours is your job safe?

Published by El Gigante under NFL

That is the question Rex Grossman must be asking himself this morning. After signing a deal with a base of $3MM with escalating bonuses shooting up to as much as $4.5MM, Sexy Rexy probably felt like his job was secure. His previous competition, Brian Griese, played terrible in relief of Grossman last year. The 3rd string QB is better known for his shenanigans:

I hope that time stamp is wrong

MLB Opening Day is fast approaching and I forgot how good the Tigers are going to be

Published by El Gigante under MLB

I received my first baseball related email of the week this morning. My buddy emailed me to let me know that he had picked up extra tickets for the Padres home opener versus the Astros. So as far as I’m concerned baseball season is officially in full swing. I quickly hopped online to look at the Padres new roster, read about the free agent acquisitions and see what type of team I should expect this year.

Then I came across this headline:

Tiger Woods: Most Dominant Ever In Any Sport?

Published by El Doctor under PGA, Tiger Woods

Tiger is better at life than you will ever be
Tiger is better at life than you will ever be

Tiger Woods won the Accenture Match Play Championship today, giving him 5 tournament victories in a row. Basically if Tiger is playing, don’t bet the Field. Tiger destroyed Stewart Cink 8&7 (in 36-hole play) and probably upset NBC by winning so quickly it left them with over an hour of air time to kill. Here is a summary of the event if you are so interested.

Given Tiger’s success the question must be asked: Is Tiger Woods the most dominant sports figure ever? My thoughts after the jump: Continue Reading »

Happy Birthday! Eduardo Da Silva gets his leg broken

Published by Mutante under Premiership, Soccer, YouTube

Birthday boy: Eduardo Da Silva, Croatian Midfielder who plays for Arsenal (it’s 2 days before his 25th)
Present giver: Martin Taylor, just another English goon on Birmingham

You may remember that Croatia embarrassed England’s national team by whooping on them in Wembley and cutting them out of Euro 2008. Payback?

This is pretty gruesome; pictures after the jump.

Indiana Hoops Coach Kelvin Sampson Fired in Recruiting Scandal

Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson was fired today in one of the biggest and most publicized college basketball recruiting scandals we have seen in quite some time.

samspon.jpg

After Indiana finally got rid of Bobby Knight, one of the winningest coaches in all of college basketball history, I must say I don’t feel too sorry for these guys. They ousted Bobby over some general BS (since when was yelling at or getting a little physical with a player really that big a deal?) replaced him with some other guy, and then hired a cheater.
